Introduction

GDS Consulting is a Johannesburg-based IT consulting firm that specializes in geoscientific data management and Managed IT services including Server Management, Network Design & Support, Backup and Recovery, security solutions, website design, and web hosting.

This role, reporting to the Directors, will be accountable for the total sales and growth of the company's products and services and driving the development of new opportunities in South Africa.

Responsibilities
  • Build up a portfolio of new customers using cold calling and prospecting.
  • Qualify leads from marketing campaigns as sales opportunities.
  • Identify new business opportunities.
  • Close sales and direct clients through the sign-up and implementation steps.
  • Assist in roadmap planning, staff training, and development.
  • Set clear objectives for the team.
  • New business and territory development including customer expansion and development of existing key account base and product portfolio.
  • Become a trusted business advisor to the client.
  • Identify opportunities for brand exposure.
  • Build good relationships with clients.
  • Provide mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and direction to the team.
  • Spending lots of time on the road and travel will be required.
  • Selling products and services to corporate institutions, small businesses, and individuals.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Business Development Engineer.
  • Experience in a Managed Service Provider industry would be advantageous.
  • Background in IT Services industry is required.
  • Built up a portfolio of new customers using cold calling and prospecting.
  • Translates strategic intent of the business into practical value-adding solutions through bigger picture thinking and optimizing resources, in a time frame of around 3 months to 1 year.
  • Builds relationships and networks with external stakeholders and potential alliances to maximize lead.
  • Proposal writing.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a results-oriented mindset and a willingness to take initiative.
  • Able to demonstrate sales call structure techniques and cold calling.
  • Proven success in working towards targets.
  • Always aiming to exceed expectations and surprise people with your ability.

Package & Remuneration

R25,000 - R30,000, depending on experience and commission structure.
