Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking an Engine Workshop Technician for the Master Rebuild Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa, to perform engine repairs, rebuilds and maintenance. You will ensure repairs meet Cummins quality standards while maintaining safety and documentation.

You will use electronic service tools for diagnostics, support apprentices, and contribute to a clean, organized workshop. The role is on-site with a strong safety culture and ongoing training opportunities at Cummins.

Qualifications

• Maintain a strong focus on safety and compliance by following all safe work practices, PPE, and HSE standards.
• Apply mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to diagnose, repair, and rebuild components.
• Utilize electronic service tools to perform diagnostics, interpret results, and determine corrective actions.
• Deliver quality results within established turnaround times by staying organized and documenting work.
• Support training and development of apprentices and escalate complex technical issues.

Responsibilities

• Complete engine repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance tasks efficiently, minimizing downtime.
• Apply established service procedures to ensure repairs meet Cummins quality standards.
• Support inspection, disassembly, cleaning, and assessment of engines and components.
• Prepare parts, tools, and equipment before maintenance activities to improve workshop productivity.
• Accurately complete service documentation, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality records.
• Continuously develop technical knowledge through training programs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the workshop.
• Promote a strong safety culture by following Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and reporting hazards.
