Job summary

An African environmental NGO is seeking a MEL Coordinator to support the implementation of EduConservation's framework by analyzing and reporting data on educational impacts. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's Degree, at least 2 years in MEL, and is bilingual in French and English. Responsibilities include data collection, database management, and preparing reports. About the Project

EduConservation is a pan‑African environmental educational project focusing on integrating well researched Africa‑centric conservation resources to enrich and supplement the curricula of the formal education systems in African countries.

Role Overview

The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Coordinator supports the implementation of EduConservation's MEL framework by collecting, analysing, and reporting on data that demonstrates the program's impact on learners, educators, and communities. The role ensures that evidence and learning inform program improvement and strategic decision making, bridging field data collection, reporting, and learning functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement MEL tools and processes in alignment with EduConservation's Theory of Change and MEL framework.
  • Coordinate and conduct data collection in schools, training sessions, and communities.
  • Maintain a centralised database, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity.
  • Develop and manage data tracking sheets and dashboards (Excel, Google Sheets, SurveyMonkey, etc.).
  • Assist with baseline, midline, and endline assessments to measure programme outcomes and behaviour change.
  • Support indicator tracking, data verification, and validation of reports.
  • Conduct regular field visits to ensure ethical and accurate data collection.
  • Contribute to data analysis, identifying trends and key learnings that inform programme refinement.
  • Prepare periodic MEL summaries, dashboards, and visual reports for internal and donor audiences.
  • Share findings and lessons during team reflection sessions and review meetings.
  • Ensure that data and insights are accessible, accurate, and feed into programme design and donor reporting.
  • Work closely with the content development, education, and field implementation teams to ensure MEL alignment across all activities.
  • Provide day‑to‑day technical support to staff on data collection tools and quality standards.
  • Support training and mentoring sessions on MEL basics for field teams and partners.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Social Sciences or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL), preferably with experience working within rural contexts.
  • Previous experience working within the education sector and/or non‑profit organisations is highly advantageous.
  • French and English Bilingual.
  • Demonstrated ICT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace and SurveyMonkey.
  • Experience with data analysis tools is an advantage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across project sites in Africa periodically is a must.
