Job summary

Energy Capital & Power (ECP) in Africa seeks a Conference Producer to develop commercially focused conference content from concept to delivery. You will research trends, curate speaker lineups, and manage session logistics to ensure profitable events and strong sponsor engagement.

You will collaborate with Sponsorship, Marketing, Operations, Content, and IT to produce compelling programmes, recruit top speakers, and optimize attendee satisfaction across multiple platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in political science, law, or related field.
• 2–5 years’ experience in conference production, event content development, journalism, research, media, or related environment.
• Experience recruiting and managing senior-level speakers and industry stakeholders.
• Proven ability to develop commercially successful conference programmes.
• Excellent research and analytical skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of conference production.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Stakeholder management and relationship-building ability.
• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• High attention to detail.
• CRM experience (HubSpot).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event management systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct extensive market research to identify emerging trends, industry challenges, opportunities, and commercial themes.
• Carry out a minimum of 20 buy-side and sell-side research calls per event to gather market intelligence and validate programme topics.
• Read and analyse industry publications, reports, and news articles to stay informed of sector developments.
• Develop comprehensive research summaries and translate findings into commercially viable conference agendas.
• Create, update, and maintain event programmes and agendas across platforms (websites, apps, collateral, internal docs).
• Ensure each agenda contains at least 75% new speaker representation, limiting repeats to 25%.
