The candidate should have knowledge and understanding of currency, bond and equity markets, ideally with the ability to cultivate contacts and sources at banks, money managers and funds that trade and invest in emerging markets. The role requires covering the local markets and investment climate as part of the broader EM asset class, with a primary focus on markets across Sub‑Saharan Africa.

The candidate should have an understanding of the role that foreign creditors, local investors and multilateral lenders such as the IMF play in helping determine the outlook for tradable securities.

Prior experience covering emerging markets is preferred although not necessary.

You’ll Need To Have

• A demonstrated interest in markets
• Solid news judgment and a strong sense of urgency
• The ability to write quickly, adeptly and concisely under deadline
• The ability to cultivate and develop sources in finance, asset management and related fields
• The ability to work across teams, platforms and geographies
