Red Ember Recruitment (PTY) Ltd is seeking a Junior Legal & Compliance Officer on behalf of our client, operating in the financial services and short-term insurance industry, based in Durbanville, South Africa. You will support legal research, contract drafting and review, regulatory monitoring, governance documentation and risk identification, with oversight from senior staff.

This role offers exposure to compliance submissions, reporting and audits within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Conduct legal research on relevant legislation and regulations.
• Assist with drafting, reviewing and updating contracts, agreements and legal correspondence.
• Maintain legal documentation and contract registers.
• Review business agreements and identify potential legal risks.
• Support senior staff with data analysis relating to complaints.

Responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with applicable legislation, regulations and industry requirements.
• Assist with compliance monitoring activities and regulatory reviews.
• Prepare compliance reports for management and regulatory authorities.
• Assist with regulatory submissions and notifications.
• Maintain regulatory calendars and compliance trackers.
• Monitor regulatory changes and maintain records of relevant updates.
• Support governance processes, including committee documentation and minute-taking.
• Assist with identifying legal, regulatory and compliance risks.
• Support the implementation of risk mitigation controls.
• Escalate potential compliance issues to senior management.
• Assist with internal and external audits.
