About the Organization and the Role

CSO is a community‑based security and medical response organization in Cape Town. They are looking for passionate individuals who support the Jewish community to join their team as Emergency Call Centre operators. The centre operates 24/7, 365 days a year.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Answer emergency calls and provide immediate support to callers.
  • Log emergency calls.
  • Dispatch appropriate emergency services.
  • Monitor security cameras and perform basic troubleshooting when required.
  • Handle general administration duties, including record keeping.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Matric is an advantage; experience in a high‑pressure call centre or EMS environment is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent command of English (verbal and written) with a calm, clear telephonic communication style.
  • Proficient administration and organisational skills; capable of filing, completing report forms and summaries.
  • Analytical and systems‑oriented with the ability to follow policies and procedures.
  • Attention to detail, flexibility, self‑driven and proactive with initiative.
  • Team‑oriented, able to remain calm in stressful situations, multitask and work autonomously while maintaining open communication.
  • Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Confidentiality and security awareness.
  • Passion for and volunteer involvement with the Cape Town Jewish community.
  • Preferred willingness to work either day or night shifts. Must be willing to work weekends, Shabbat, Yomtovim & public holidays.
  • Knowledge of map systems and Cape Town streets is an advantage.
  • Clear criminal and ITC record required.
  • Code 8 driver’s licence preferable; PSIRA registration is an advantage.

  • Location: Cape Town, Gardens
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Shift pattern: Approximately 16 shifts a month (Day: 5 am – 5 pm; Night: 5 pm – 5 am)
  • Salary range: Market‑related (Commensurate with skill and experience)
