Placements24 is seeking an Embedded Systems Electrical Engineer to join a fully remote team. You will own the complete lifecycle of embedded hardware—from concept to board layout, prototyping, and testing—working with software and product teams to deliver IoT solutions.

The role is remote, requires 3-5 years of experience in hardware design, and a Bachelor's in Electrical/Computer Engineering. You will design schematics, PCB layouts, and validate hardware in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Embedded Systems Electrical Engineer to join their innovative, fully remote team, based ideally near Mossel Bay . This role is central to the design and development of intelligent electronic systems and IoT devices. You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of embedded hardware, from conceptualization and schematic design to board layout, prototyping, and testing. Working within a collaborative, virtual environment, you will contribute to cutting-edge product development, interfacing closely with software engineers and product management to bring smart solutions to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded hardware systems, including microcontrollers, sensors, and communication interfaces.
• Create detailed schematics and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts using industry-standard EDA tools.
• Select appropriate electronic components based on performance, cost, and availability requirements.
• Develop and execute test plans for embedded hardware, including functional, performance, and environmental testing.
• Collaborate with software engineers on firmware development, integration, and debugging.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues, identify root causes, and implement effective design modifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in embedded systems hardware design and development.
• Proficiency in PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, KiCad).
• Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, ESP32) and related peripherals.
