  • RB-1A well-known established plastics / packaging manufacturing group requires the above to be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all electrical equipment, machinery, and control systems within their plastic manufacturing plant.

The role focuses on minimising downtime, supporting production efficiency, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum requirements for the role : A Trade Test Certificate as an Electrician is essential for the role.

(Red Seal preferred).

Previous experience having worked within an industrial electrical maintenance manufacturing environment is essential.

Experience working within a Plastic manufacturing company is preferred. Knowledge of PLC controlled systems, machinery, drives, motors, sensors etc VSDs, and industrial automation is essential. Must be Familiar with South African electrical regulations and safety standards. Must be able to read and interpret electrical diagrams and technical manuals. Must be familiar with preventative and predictive maintenance practices. Experience working with injection moulding and thermoforming machinery is preferred. Must have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with good communication and teamwork abilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for : Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all electrical equipment, machinery, and control systems within their plastic manufacturing plant.

The role focuses on minimising downtime, supporting production efficiency, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Performing routine and emergency maintenance on electrical systems and machinery. Diagnosing electrical faults and implementing effective solutions. Maintaining and repairing control panels, motors, sensors, and PLC systems. Installing new electrical equipment and wiring in compliance with regulations. Assisting in the commissioning of new machinery and production lines. Ensuring all work complies with OHSA and company safety standards. Conducting risk assessments and implementing corrective actions. Maintaining accurate records of all electrical work and inspections. Reporting faults and maintenance activities to supervisors promptly. Installing electrical wiring, control panels, and related components for injection moulding machines and auxiliary equipment. Maintaining electrical systems, control circuits, PLCs, sensors, and automation components to ensure continuous machine operation. Troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical faults and breakdowns in injection moulding machines and associated equipment. Repairing motors, drives, wiring, and other electrical components to minimise production downtime. Calibrating and adjusting electrical and electronic equipment for optimal performance and energy efficiency. Inspecting electrical systems and equipment regularly to identify potential problems and carry out preventative maintenance. Monitoring machine performance and electrical safety systems to maintain production standards and reduce failures.
