Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Electrician in South Africa, Gauteng. The ideal candidate will have a valid Electrician trade qualification and at least 5-10 years of maintenance experience. Job description
Purpose of the Job :

The Electrician is responsible for completing any task related to the electrical components of the machinery and equipment and inspect on a routine basis electrical equipment, wiring, fixtures and other components to ensure they remain functional and are up to code, as well as to identify any hazards or issues.

Determine the reasons for any malfunctions of systems or components and create a maintenance or repair plan to solve the problem.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
  • Valid Electrician seal trade qualification.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of factory maintenance experience as an electrician.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Experience in working with and troubleshooting proximity sensors used in various automated systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs: Ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation, reporting, and communications.
  • Knowledge in Occupational Health & Safety Standards and solid understanding of workplace safety protocols, and the ability to apply safety standards in all electrical work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and management.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently for effective communication and documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to assess situations, analyze electrical systems, and implement solutions.
  • Must have own reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and after-hours to address electrical breakdowns or urgent maintenance requirements.

Will be required to work shifts which will rotate on a weekly basis as follows: 06h00 to 14h30, 14h00 to 22h30, 22h00 to 06h30.
