Overview
The incumbent will be responsible for completing new LV and MV electrical installations and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of existing LV and MV electrical installations at Air Liquide facilities, road tankers and customer installations. The incumbent must have a thorough applied knowledge of electrical installations and machinery, including, but not limited to, motors, generators, VSDs, motor starters, PLCs, cables and pressure and temperature instrumentation.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance – Preventive, troubleshooting and corrective maintenance of electrical installations and systems at Air Liquide facilities, road tankers and customer installations.
- New Electrical Installations – Installations of electrical systems at AL facilities, road tankers and customer installations.
- Electrical panel building – Construction of panels for new installations and renewal of existing installations.
- Flameproof and distribution system inspections, earth leakage tests & maintenance of related equipment.
- Responsible use of the company vehicle communicating problems, irregularities and progress to the electrical coordinator or relevant supervisor.
- Working overtime and standby as required.
- Control of spare parts required to perform all maintenance mentioned.
- Portable electrical equipment testing and inspections.
- Daily administration (job cards, record books, etc.).
Quality, Safety and IMS
Adhere to Quality, Safety and IMS policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering NTC4 or equivalent
- Matric and Qualified Electrician (Trade test)
- Wireman’s license
- Valid driver’s licence
Experience
- 5 – 8 years in maintenance management, preferably in the industrial gas (or chemical) plant, road tanker and bulk container (isotainers)
- Experience in construction of electrical systems and panels
- Flameproof installations / hazardous locations maintenance
- Electrical equipment related to the gas / cryogenic industry
- Safety and environmental requirements; applicable legislation
Knowledge and Know‑How
- Knowledge of maintenance systems
- Application of SANS maintenance practices
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams
- Demonstrable applied knowledge of VSD and PLC systems
- Understanding of pressure and temperature instrumentation
- Understanding MV reticulation and power transformer maintenance, generators and switchgear
- Knowledge of industrial gas equipment and applications
