Job summary

SA Metal Group (Pty) Ltd in South Africa invites applications for a General Technical Assistant in the Electrical department. The role focuses on assisting with maintenance and upgrading of electrical control and distribution systems, ensuring equipment is maintained and isolated by a Qualified Artisan, and supporting repairs and installation tasks.

You will work under supervision, help with conduit installation, basic tool use, housekeeping, and ad-hoc duties for the department.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience.
• Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations.
• Grade 12 matric certificate or equivalent.
• Good English communication (reading, writing, speaking).
• Prepared to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance and upgrading of electrical control and distribution systems.
• Ensure equipment is well maintained and isolated by the Qualified Artisan before work.
• Assist with repairs and maintenance on electrical equipment.
• Assist with installing conduit, cable racking and cables as instructed.
• Identify and select appropriate hand tools; use basic power tools.
• Housekeeping and general department support.
• Assist department manager and Qualified Artisans with ad-hoc duties.
