Job summary

An established company in heavy industrial manufacturing is seeking an E&I Maintenance Technologist in Durban. The ideal candidate must have 5 years of experience in instrumentation and electrical fields, exceptional fault-finding skills, and the ability to work independently. Responsibilities include coordinating manpower, liaising with the engineering team, and providing technical support. A National Diploma in Electrical Engineering is required, with a Bachelor's degree being advantageous.

Our Client, an established company in heavy industrial manufacturing, is looking to expand their team. They are seeking a E&I Maintenance Technologist based in Durban. This person will report into the Maintenance Leader and work in the maintenance department.

REQUIREMENTS
  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Process Instrumentation) (T3/S4) / Bachelor of Technology advantageous
  • 5 years’ experience in instrumentation and electrical field in a production environment is required
  • Have experience, skill and ability to fault find & have above average knowledge of engineering practice & standards.
  • Able to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions in urgent breakdown situations.
  • Have a high level of teamwork and good communication skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate manpower in the workshop.
  • Liaise with plant engineering team on manpower requirements (planning/administration).
  • Participation in meeting (Engineering, Production, Safety).
  • Give technical support to engineering and production staff. Direct and lead technicians and artisans where necessary.
  • Ensure Work-shop personnel are adequately trained and equipped for plant requirements.
  • Evaluate staff and maintain discipline in accordance with company rules Maintain safety and housekeeping standards SHE requirements.
  • Ensure that standards are maintained (Engineering, Safety) and are following OSHACT and ISO 9002 requirements.
  • Carry out Standby duties.
  • Plant modifications upgrading and problem solving (Projects to Certification).
  • Ensure all requested upgrades/modifications on DCS are implemented.
  • Maintain spare part availability in workshop and production areas. Liaise with procurement to ensure timeous availability of spares and equipment
