Job summary

A leading mining company in Rustenburg seeks an experienced professional to supervise electrical maintenance activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing a maintenance team, ensuring compliance with safety standards while analyzing and solving electrical problems. Applicants must have a NTC 2 qualification, experience in a processing environment, and strong competencies in PLC equipment operation. Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in Processing environment is essential.
  • Experience as relieving foreman is essential.
  • Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one is required.

  • Guide Electricians during maintenance tasks.
  • Analyse and solve electrical problems.
  • Manage and maintain control of workshops and substations.
  • Attend to electrical breakdowns.

Job description
Overview

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To supervise and assist the team in the safe execution of all electrical activities.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

OR Proof of recognised completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time) AND NTC 2 (Recognised Trade Theory) qualification is essential

  • 5 years experience in Processing environment is essential.
  • Experience as relieving foreman is essential.
  • Experience as foreman would be an advantage.
  • Working exposure as an Electrician or Foreman responsible for the following is essential:
  • 6.6 kV and 33 kV switching operation
  • Indoor and outdoor Substations and/or MCC equipment.
  • Protection relays and metering equipment.
  • Protection schemes and testing.
  • Computer literacy is essential
  • Project management and execution will be advantageous
  • SAP experience will be advantageous
  • Valid medical certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate
Competencies
  • Knowledge of Control Systems will be advantageous
  • Ability to work with PLC equipment of various types is a requirement
  • Knowledge of VSD and Soft Starters is essential
  • Overhead Line Reticulation experience will be advantageous
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, co-ordinate and supervise electrical maintenance activities
  • Guide and assist Electricians with daily maintenance activities
  • Analyse and solve electrical problems
  • Maintain control of Electrical workshops, stores and main sub-stations
  • Attend to callouts with regards to electrical breakdowns
  • Compilation of budget and overall cost control
  • Plan and organise the electrical maintenance including the management of all required spares and documentation of all electrical reticulation including all main HT substations to minimise breakdowns
  • Lead a maintenance team towards the achievement of regularly set goals
  • MHSA and Procedural compliance within specific role
  • Labour management
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting on all electrical and operational problems
  • Plan and co-ordinate Projects
  • Familiarise with quality management systems and standards
  • Perform standby and overtime duties when requested
  • Maintaining of discipline and good morale
  • Shutdown planning and preparations
