Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Electrical Engineer with expertise in distribution networks to join our East London team. You will design and upgrade medium/low voltage networks, conduct studies, and support field operations to ensure safe, reliable power delivery.

The role requires a BEng in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years in distribution design and operation; Pr Eng registration is desirable. A hybrid work model and comprehensive benefits are on offer.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the Role

This role is integral to the design, development, and operational support of the company's electrical distribution infrastructure, ensuring the reliable and safe delivery of power to a broad customer base. You will be involved in planning network upgrades, analyzing performance, and implementing solutions to enhance system efficiency and resilience. Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan upgrades and extensions for medium and low voltage distribution networks .
• Conduct load forecasting, network studies, and fault level calculations to ensure system capacity and reliability.
• Prepare technical specifications for new equipment and materials for distribution projects.
• Oversee the construction and commissioning phases of distribution network projects, ensuring adherence to design and safety standards.
• Analyze network performance data, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions for operational efficiency.
• Provide technical support to field operations teams and respond to complex network issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in electrical distribution network design and operation.
• Proficiency with relevant design and analysis software (e.g., ArcGIS, CYME, ETAP for distribution studies).
• Strong understanding of distribution system components, protection schemes, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with project management principles and coordinating with contractors.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration or eligibility for registration is highly desirable.
