Job summary

A recruitment company is seeking a driven Electrical / Mechatronic Engineer in Paarl, South Africa. Qualifications

• 35 years of proven experience in PLC automation design and commissioning.
• 12 years of practical experience in electrical circuit design (E-plan preferred).
• Flexibility to travel nationally and internationally when required.

Overview

An exciting opportunity exists for a driven Electrical / Mechatronic Engineer to contribute to advanced automation and control system projects. We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented engineer skilled in PLC programming and electrical design with the ability to support manufacturing and heavy machinery applications. If you are technically motivated, strong in problem-solving, and enjoy dynamic environments, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

• Design detailed electrical circuits in compliance with industry standards
• Develop PLC automation programs tailored to specific machine and system requirements
• Conduct electrical testing and commissioning of equipment both in-house and on-site
• Prepare, update and maintain project documentation to reflect as-built conditions
• Provide technical support during equipment assembly, installation and operation
• Assist technicians and customers with troubleshooting and fault resolution
• Undertake local and international travel as needed for project execution

Skills & Experience

• 35 years of proven experience in PLC automation design and commissioning
• Proficiency in Siemens TIA Portal
• Exposure to alternative platforms such as CODESYS, Allen Bradley, Delta ISP Soft or B&R is advantageous
• 12 years of practical experience in electrical circuit design (E-plan preferred)
• Strong knowledge of electrical standards and their practical application
• High computer literacy including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
• Flexibility to travel nationally and internationally when required

Qualifications

• BEng or BTech in Electrical / Mechatronic Engineering
• Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
