Job description

A client in the engineering consultancy sector is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical engineering designs and project work across various stages as per ECSA guidelines. This includes project delivery, design work, mentoring of junior engineers, and contributing to business development.

Business Development and Support
  • Attend tender briefings and assist in the preparation of proposals, pricing, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal project registration and risk analysis procedures.
  • Maintain quality assurance standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Uphold Health and Safety regulations in office and on-site environments.
  • Support the development of the electrical engineering portfolio and contribute to client acquisition efforts.
2. Project Management and Delivery
  • Lead and participate in all technical aspects of projects, from concept through to detailed design and documentation.
  • Take professional responsibility for electrical design outputs in line with ECSA regulations.
  • Manage small to medium-sized projects effectively.
  • Design systems including but not limited to : power, lighting, fire detection, CCTV, access control, emergency power, telecoms, and nurse call.
  • Experience with healthcare and similar infrastructure projects is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy solutions (e.g., solar PV, BESS) is beneficial.
  • Oversee project scoping, change management, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to team members.
  • Contribute to project documentation, procurement, construction, and commissioning processes.
3. Training and Mentoring
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain or pursue ECSA professional registration.
  • Mentor and coach candidate engineers and technologists, providing technical guidance and leadership.
4. Stakeholder and Team Management
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external clients.
  • Manage project teams, ensuring goals are met on time and within budget.
  • Support the development of internal standards and engineering best practices.
Requirements
  • Education: B.Eng in Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution.
