What you’ll be doing
Electrical Design and Development
- Develop and design single line diagrams, control panel layouts, and wiring schematics suitable for submission to panel builders.
 
- Design and review electrical and control systems for packaged and modular water and wastewater treatment plants.
 
- Prepare technical documentation and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
 
- Review and approve electrical designs and drawings prepared by subcontractors and suppliers.
 
Control Systems and Programming
- Program PLCs and HMIs using platforms such as Siemens, Unitronic, and Schneider.
 
- Configure and test control system logic for process automation.
 
- Modify and optimize PLC programs during commissioning and troubleshooting.
 
Commissioning and Technical Support
- Participate in on‑site commissioning of electrical and control systems (approximately 70% Johannesburg / 30% travel).
 
- Provide operations and maintenance troubleshooting support to internal teams and clients.
 
- Collaborate closely with process and mechanical engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
 
What you’ll need
- BEng, BTech, or National Diploma in Electrical or Control Engineering.
 
- 35 years experience in electrical design and control systems engineering, ideally within the water, wastewater, or industrial automation sector.
 
- Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (Siemens, Unitronic, Schneider preferred).
 
- Experience with control panel design, single line diagrams, and system integration.
 
- Ability to interpret and review electrical drawings and ensure technical compliance.
 
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and teamwork skills.
 
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel (local and international).
 
- Medically fit to work in various environments, including confined spaces and heights.
