Job summary

West Coast Personnel in Western Cape is seeking an entry-level apprentice to assist technicians at customer sites, homes, and businesses. You will learn inspection, servicing, installation and repair of equipment under supervision, while preparing tools and materials for service calls and installations.

You will gain hands-on experience through troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation, under guidance from experienced technicians, while maintaining safety and professional conduct on site.

Qualifications

• Duties require basic customer service aptitude.
• Willingness to learn technical work under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assisting Technicians with travelling to customer locations and job sites.
• Assist with inspection, servicing, installation and repair under Technician direction.
• Prepare tools, equipment and parts for service calls and installations.
• Support basic troubleshooting and testing of equipment under supervision.
• Learn to identify common equipment faults and corrective procedures.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and routine servicing of equipment.
• Help install new equipment under supervision.
• Assist with removal/replacement of faulty parts as instructed.
• Learn to use testing/diagnostic equipment and relevant software.
• Follow manuals, schematics and manufacturer guidelines.
• Test equipment after service to ensure proper operation and safety.
• Assist with loading/unloading and transportation of equipment and parts.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at sites and workshop.
• Prepare for customer service calls and ensure tools/parts are ready.
• Observe and learn from experienced Technicians.
