UrbanSoft SA PTY in Johannesburg seeks an Elastic Stack Engineer to lead design and implementation of observability and security stack using Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats, Logstash, and ML features.

You will own detection rules, watchers, dashboards, ILM, latency measurements, and alerting integrations with Slack, Teams, PagerDuty, and email, collaborating with data engineering, SecOps, and DevOps.

Qualifikationen

• Strong hands-on experience with Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats, Logstash).
• Proficiency in JSON configurations for detection rules, watchers and alerting pipelines.
• Experience building and operating Elastic Machine Learning jobs for observability/security.
• In‑depth monitoring of high‑volume data streams and data latency.
• Experience designing end‑to‑end alerting workflows and integrations.
• Experience tracking data ingestion latency from source to index.
• Strong scripting (Python, Bash) to automate tasks.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Understanding of DevOps / SRE practices (CI/CD, IaC).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent.

Aufgaben

• Architect, deploy and optimise the Elastic Stack for observability and security.
• Develop and maintain JSON configurations for detection rules and alerts.
• Build and operationalise ML jobs for anomaly detection and forecasting.
• Monitor health and latency of data streams; manage ILM and clustering.
• Implement and maintain alerting frameworks and downstream integrations.
• Track integration time and mitigate delays in the ingestion pipeline.
• Create dashboards and reports in Kibana to show KPIs and SLAs.
• Collaborate with data engineers, SecOps, and DevOps to deliver solutions.
• Document JSON rule setups, watchers, dashboards and models.
• Participate in incident response and post-incident learnings.
