Job summary

Chart Industries, through its Howden South Africa Division, invites an experienced EHS Officer to join the Middelburg team. You will oversee HSE on maintenance and GO sites, ensure legal compliance, and uphold internal safety standards.

The role requires a National Diploma in Safety Management, SAMTRAC, and at least five years’ experience in EHS within an industrial environment; certification such as SACPMP is preferred, with strong incident investigations and risk assessments.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Safety Management required.
• Grade 12 and SAMTRAC certification.
• SACPMP registration as Safety Officer.
• Minimum 5 years’ EHS Officer experience in industrial settings.
• Incident/accident investigation and HIRA training.
• SHE audits and computer literacy essential.
• ISO 9001/14000/45000 certifications advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for HSE on Maintenance and GO sites to ensure legal and internal compliance.
• Manage safety administration, incident reporting, and investigations.
• Rollout safety requirements to sites and report on progress.
• Audit subcontractors pre-site access and drive corrective actions.
• Assess site risks and write risk assessments and safe work procedures.
• SOX compliance: adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.
