NMS Insurance Services (SA) Ltd (NMS Insurance Services) is a micro insurer and part of Sanlam Fintech.

NMS Insurance Services is a recently acquired subsidiary, with Sanlam holding a 60% interest from MultiChoice Group.

Part of Sanlam's strategy involves digitizing business models to attract digital-first customer segments that are traditionally hard and costly to reach.

About the role

This role oversees reporting strategies and processes, including management, risk, regulatory, and statutory reporting.

Reporting to the CEO of NMS Insurance Services and dotted line to the CFO of Sanlam Fintech, the Senior Financial Manager supports the CFO in achieving finance objectives aligned with company culture.

The role involves managing finance resources, providing sound financial advice, ensuring rigorous accounting processes, and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the accuracy of financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
  2. Manage timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
  3. Coordinate audits and liaise with auditors to ensure compliance.
  4. Document internal control policies and procedures.
  5. Manage the financial close process and control accounts reconciliation.
  6. Handle tax affairs, including corporate income tax, VAT, and dividends tax, liaising with internal tax experts.
  7. Identify and manage financial risks with mitigation strategies.
  8. Review internal financial controls and risk matrices, recommending improvements.
  9. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  10. Oversee financial reporting systems and improve system efficiencies.
  11. Collaborate across departments and with stakeholders to ensure accurate management reports.
  12. Prepare financial statements, valuation reports, and reports for governance bodies.
  13. Ensure compliance with governance standards like King IV and the Companies Act.
  14. Support risk management by maintaining the risk register and monitoring controls.
  15. Build relationships across departments and with stakeholders, including participating in business-critical projects.
Qualifications and Experience
  • CA (SA) qualification.
  • 8-10+ years senior management experience in financial services.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency in financial software, data analytics, IFRS, and taxation knowledge.
