THE JOB AT A GLANCE

You are responsible for developing and executing the sourcing strategy for your respective commodities, ensuring delivery of the best procurement value and mitigation of supply risks.

You will establish a distinctive competency and understanding of the commodities and Tiger Brands' business needs, continuously identifying new procurement value opportunities in line with the Commodity Strategies.

You will deliver cost savings projects focused on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) optimization while maintaining healthy relationships with suppliers and the business.

You will also lead a team of sourcing specialists to support the execution of the strategy.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversight of procurement and buying activities within the business unit, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and contracts.
  2. Collaborate with the broader procurement function to develop and promote a professional and ethical procurement environment.
  3. Manage RFX processes to optimize spend and unlock value, ensuring procurement motivations for approvals are properly compiled.
  4. Develop, implement, and manage supplier contracts with support from the Legal team.
  5. Provide budgetary input, quarterly cost forecasts, and manage Zero-Based Budgeting.
  6. Maintain Supply Risk registers for specified commodities.
  7. Complete supplier evaluations, negotiations, and monitor price movements for allocated categories.
  8. Manage contracts to ensure validity and proactive risk mitigation.
  9. Oversee procurement processes using online platforms like Zycus and related data management, ensuring full BU adoption.
  10. Explain complex products or services to internal/external customers.
  11. Compile procurement mandates and technical reports for approval at Exco level.
  12. Monthly reporting of KPIs, savings, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years' procurement experience
  • Extensive Excel skills
  • Management of significant commodity sourcing budgets

Educational qualifications include a NQF Level 7 or equivalent Bachelor's degree; a Post-Graduate Degree in Supply Chain Management is advantageous.
