Job description

Job Title: Portfolio Audit Manager

Group Internal Audit (GIA) Purpose: To provide independent assurance to the Nedbank Group Limited Board via the Group Audit Committee that governance, risk management, and internal controls are effective in mitigating current and emerging risks, thereby supporting the achievement of the Group's strategic objectives and enhancing the internal control and risk culture.

Job Purpose: To conduct portfolio audits and manage stakeholder relationships to ensure credit risk within CIB (wholesale banking) is mitigated according to Nedbank Group standards. The role involves interacting with divisional teams (CIB and others) to define audit scope and conduct fieldwork.

Responsibilities:
  • Support assessments of internal audit outcomes to governing bodies like GAC and the Board Risk Committee.
  • Report on the effectiveness of governance, risk, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate governance standards.
  • Report significant issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain adequate professional staffing for Credit Risk Audit.
  • Follow up on management’s agreed actions to address audit issues.
  • Deliver measurable performance for your portfolio and assist in audit plan delivery.
  • Provide audit opinions on internal financial controls.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and business leaders.
  • Develop a 12-month risk-based audit plan considering strategic focus areas and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Essential: Advanced Diplomas / National 1st Degrees, CA (SA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
  • Minimum Experience: 1-3 years in Credit Data Analytics, with understanding of credit, operational, market, and liquidity risks, and familiarity with financial regulations.
  • Preferred: Extensive audit and risk management experience in banking, knowledge of IT controls.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Audit standards, banking knowledge, governance, and risk controls.
  • Ethics, fraud prevention, IT controls, and business writing skills.
  • Regulatory principles, business acumen, and stakeholder relationship management.
Personal Attributes:
  • Leadership, judgment, integrity, respect, accountability, and client focus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, business insight, and ethical standards.
