Job description

With two campuses situated in Sandton and Alexandra, St David’s is a Marist, Catholic, Independent School for boys of all faiths. We cater for boys from Grade 00 to Grade 12 and offer weekly boarding in the College.

Established in 1941, St David’s Marist Inanda is part of a global Marist educational system with a strong value base, focused on “Humility, Simplicity and Modesty” as espoused by our founder St Marcellin Champagnat. With 1380 boys (82 boarders) across two campuses, St David’s Marist Inanda will grow by another 150 boys on the Alexandra Campus in the next few years. All of these boys need to be carefully nurtured in character and religion, academics, leadership, culturals and sport.

As part of our continued commitment to provide holistic development and support of our boys within the Wellness Team, St David’s Marist Inanda seeks to appoint an appropriately qualified, dynamic and experienced Educational Psychologist for the post of:

EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST

(Including CAREERS & SPORT PSYCHOLOGY CO-ORDINATION)

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Display an understanding of and commitment to the St David’s Marist Catholic ethos and values.
  • Display high levels of professionalism and a positive work ethic.
  • Be able to work, collaborate and meaningfully contribute to the holistic Wellness Team.
  • Experience working across all school phases and both campuses to provide support to boys and their families.
  • Be willing and able to contribute to school wide interventions.
  • Have knowledge of relevant policy and legislature.
  • Be willing to present talks, workshops, and write relevant pieces for regular newsletters. Have the requisite technical skills to present and work online, where required.
  • Provide psychological assessments, counselling, and intervention for learners aged 4 – 18.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and support staff to promote emotional wellbeing, academic success, and personal growth.
  • Support learners’ career development, helping them explore pathways and make informed choices for life beyond school.
  • Co‑ordinate initiatives related to sports psychology, performance mindset, motivation and resilience.
  • Participate in multi‑disciplinary support teams and contribute to staff training and development.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Educational Psychology.
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Educational Psychologist.
  • Experience in a school context (preferably boys’ education).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Passion for whole-child development, career guidance, and sports-related performance enhancement.
