Job summary

The South African Reserve Bank seeks an Economic Statistician to collect, analyse and interpret macroeconomic indicators and present findings to senior management. You will work within the Economic Statistics Department in Pretoria, contributing to national accounts data, data reconciliation across sectors, and methodological research in line with international best practice.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in economics, statistics or a related field.
• Two to five years' experience in economic analysis or macroeconomics.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, including data manipulation.
• Familiarity with R and/or Python is an advantage.
• Sound report-writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect, compile and analyse IEA statistics and associated macroeconomic indicators and share findings with senior management.
• Contribute to the integration and reconciliation of data across institutional sectors, economic accounts and statistical domains.
• Populate, process and manage data across all relevant economic indicators within the IEA domain.
• Validate source data and ensure accuracy, liaising with data providers.
