PURPOSE OF ROLE
We are looking for an EC&I Draughtsperson to produce accurate electrical, control and instrumentation (EC&I) engineering drawings and 3D models that support our projects from concept through to completion. You will make sure every drawing meet project specifications, company standards, quality requirements and applicable engineering standards.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
EC&I Drawing & CAD Modelling
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D EC&I drawings and models.
- Develop electrical and instrumentation layouts and schematics, including small power, lighting, cableways and equipment locations.
- Prepare wiring diagrams, loop drawings and hook-up drawings.
- Develop equipment and cable routing layouts.
- Update drawings to reflect engineering changes.
Engineering & Project Support
- Assist engineers with EC&I design development.
- Interpret engineering designs, concepts and technical briefs.
- Use vendor drawings and data sheets to develop and check drawings and models.
- Prepare equipment arrangement and detailed drawings.
- Extract Bills of Materials (BOMs) and material information.
Drawing Quality & Document Control
- Check drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain drawing numbers and revision control.
- Update drawing registers and document records.
- Address drawing review comments and revisions.
- Follow company drawing and document control procedures.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate EC&I drawings with other disciplines.
- Perform clash detection on models.
- Participate in model and design review meetings.
- Liaise with engineers and project teams.
- Communicate design changes to relevant stakeholders.
Project, Construction & Compliance Support
- Provide technical drawing support during construction.
- Help resolve drawing-related site queries.
- Ensure drawings comply with project requirements.
- Follow SHEQ and engineering requirements.
- Maintain drawing office procedures and standards.
QUALIFICATION
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
- National Certificate (NQF 4) in Draughting or Engineering Drawing.
- National Diploma (NQF 6) in Engineering Draughting, Engineering Technology or a related field. (beneficial)
- ECSA membership is advantageous.
- Membership of the Draughting Institute of Southern Africa (DISA) is beneficial.
EXPERIENCE
- 2-4 years' engineering draughting experience.
- Experience in the EPC project environment.
