We are seeking a results-driven Technical Sales Consultant to join our growing team in the damp proofing and waterproofing sector. The ideal candidate will combine technical knowledge of construction and building preservation with strong sales acumen to identify opportunities, consult with clients, and close deals. You’ll be the link between our expert services and the property owners, developers, architects, and contractors we serve.
Must be based in Cape Town.
Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Identify and engage potential clients including homeowners, developers, estate agents, and construction firms.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess damp issues and recommend appropriate solutions. (using our specialised Waterproofing System)
- Prepare and present professional proposals and quotations tailored to customer needs.
- Negotiate contracts and close sales to meet or exceed targets.
Technical Expertise
- Understand and explain various damp proofing methods (rising damp, penetrating damp, condensation solutions, waterproofing, etc.).
- Stay up to date with industry products, technologies, and building regulations.
- Coordinate with technicians and surveyors to ensure seamless handover from sales to execution.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
- Provide after-sales support and follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Address client queries and concerns with technical insight and professionalism.
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, client interactions, and project pipelines using CRM tools. (& Online Job Card Tools)
- Provide regular reports and feedback to management on sales performance and market trends.
Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Certification or diploma in Building Science, Construction Management, or related field.(preferable but not essential)
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in technical sales, preferably in the construction or damp proofing industry – ideally 2-3yrs
- Knowledge of building pathology, especially relating to moisture, damp, and waterproofing systems will be advantageous.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to read and understand building plans and technical documents.
- Self-motivated with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites.
- Own vehicle
Advantageous Skills:
- Familiarity with damp proofing products (e.g., Membrane, chemical DPC injections, Negative Side Waterproofing Systems).
- Previous experience working with property management companies or construction contractors
