A respected and long-standing pre-school in Tzaneen is seeking an enthusiastic and professional Early Childhood Development (ECD) Teacher to join its dedicated teaching team in 2026.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a qualified and caring ECD Teacher who is passionate about guiding young children aged 3 to 5 years through the early stages of learning and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Planning & Delivery: Design and implement an engaging, age-appropriate curriculum aligned with the school’s educational philosophy and developmental goals.
  • Classroom Environment: Create a warm, stimulating, and supportive classroom atmosphere that promotes emotional security, social interaction, and cognitive growth.
  • Child Observation & Reporting: Assess and record each child’s progress, preparing development reports and maintaining ongoing communication with parents and caregivers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, management, and the school board to maintain high standards of learning and care.
  • Community & Parent Engagement: Build positive, open relationships with families and support the school’s community involvement, including its connection with St Peter’s Anglican Church.
  • Professional Development: Participate in meetings, workshops, and professional growth opportunities to continuously improve teaching methods and maintain educational excellence.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum Qualification: NQF Level 6 in Early Childhood Development or equivalent
  • Registration: Valid SACE registration (South African Council for Educators)
  • Language: English Home Language proficiency essential
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in an ECD classroom (ages 3–5)
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of child development and early learning methodologies
  • Curriculum Familiarity: Knowledge of the CAPS curriculum (and other relevant frameworks) advantageous
  • Documentation: Valid Police Clearance Certificate (including Sexual Offenders Register)
  • Citizenship: South African citizens – valid ID and SACE documentation; Non‑citizens – SAQA registration and valid work permit required
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, computer literacy, adaptability, and creativity
  • Personal Qualities: Patient, nurturing, responsible, and committed to fostering holistic child development within a values‑based environment
