Job Description

The Demand Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining accurate demand forecasts to ensure optimal inventory levels and meet customer demand. This role involves analyzing sales data, market trends, and historical data to create reliable forecasts, collaborating with various departments to align demand planning with business objectives, and continuously improving forecasting processes.

Reporting Line

This position reports to the Demand and Supply Planning Manager, with a dotted line to the Demand Planning Manager.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in demand planning or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in demand planning software and MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Knowledge & Skills
  • Forecasting: Predicting future demand based on historical data, market trends, and economic indicators.
  • Statistical Analysis: Using statistical methods to interpret complex data and extract actionable insights.
  • Predictive Analytics: Leveraging tools and models to anticipate future demand patterns.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in demand updates and reporting.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication with cross-functional teams to align on demand forecasts and inventory management.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly adapt and find solutions in a fast-changing environment.
  • Time Management: Efficiently managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with suppliers, retailers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate demand planning.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Demand Forecasting: Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts based on sales data, market trends, and historical data.
  2. Data Analysis: Analyze sales data, market trends, and historical data to identify patterns and trends that impact demand.
  3. Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, production, and supply chain teams to align demand planning with business objectives and ensure effective communication of demand forecasts.
  4. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels and prevent shortages or excess inventory.
  5. Reporting: Prepare and present reports on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and forecast accuracy to management.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in demand forecasting and planning to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  7. System Management: Utilize demand planning software and tools to create and maintain forecasts and track performance metrics.
  8. Customer Insights: Gather and incorporate customer insights and feedback into demand forecasts to improve accuracy.
