Job description

The Company

Globe 24-7 in partnership with a key mining client, are working together to source an experienced and qualified Stakeholder Engagement & SLP Implementation Consultant for their team in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and maintain robust relationships with local communities, traditional authorities, municipalities, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate public participation processes and community consultation meetings in line with legislative and social requirements.
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans (SEPs) and communication strategies aligned with operational and project milestones.
  • Address and resolve community grievances and disputes effectively and timeously.

SLP Implementation

  • Oversee and manage the execution of SLP commitments including local economic development (LED), human resource development (HRD), mine community development, and employment equity.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of SLP projects, providing regular progress reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional departments (HR, Training, Procurement) to align company programs with SLP targets.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) as required.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure adherence to all social performance and SLP-related legislation, guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Support audit processes related to social compliance and contribute to sustainability reporting (e.g., GRI, IR).
  • Identify risks and opportunities related to social license to operate and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Relations, Environmental Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in stakeholder engagement and/or SLP implementation within the mining or extractive sector.
  • Strong knowledge of South African mining legislation.
  • Proven track record of successful community engagement and project implementation.
