Job Description

A leading manufacturer specialising in plastic packaging requires a strategic HR leader to drive and manage all HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy within this manufacturing company.

Minimum Requirements
  1. A tertiary qualification in human resources or a related field is essential.
  2. Previous HR management experience within a manufacturing environment is required.
  3. Sound knowledge of payroll processes is necessary.
  4. Knowledge of HR practices, strategy, technology, policy and process development, and business and HR projects is essential.
  5. Solid understanding of South Africa’s labour law, industrial relations, and experience representing the company at union engagements and CCMA is required.
  6. Experience in building strong relationships with unions and successful negotiations is preferred.
  7. An industrial relations background with union engagement experience is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead, drive, and manage all HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the business strategy.
  2. Provide diagnosis, consultation, guidance, and support in developing people.
  3. Enhance organisational effectiveness through leadership development, productivity improvement, and fostering a performance culture.
  4. Oversee recruitment processes to ensure productivity and effective performance.
  5. Drive employee engagement and performance initiatives.
  6. Manage the payroll function for accurate and effective monthly payroll processing.
  7. Handle employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievances.
  8. Manage the HR budget, ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets.
  9. Collaborate with the finance department to ensure payroll data integration with financial systems.
  10. Adhere to service level agreements and standard operating procedures for HR services.
  11. Oversee daily HR activities, supporting and valuing team members.
