Financial Manager Opportunity

My client is a family-owned and operated export trading business based in Durban with a history spanning 51 years.

They specialize in exporting FMCGs, fruits and vegetables, wines, and building materials to approximately 55 countries worldwide.

The company has subsidiary businesses in various countries with which we are involved. They are seeking a dynamic and experienced financial professional who is passionate about navigating the complexities of a diverse and exciting export market to join their team.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Financial Strategy and Planning

• Develop and implement the organization’s financial strategy and long-term financial planning.
• Provide financial insights and guidance to the executive team and board of directors.
• Assess the financial health of the organization and recommend actions for improvement.
• Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Provide accurate and timely financial reports to internal and external stakeholders.

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Manage the budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to set financial targets and monitor performance.
• Create financial forecasts and scenarios to support decision-making and resource allocation.

Cash Flow Management

• Monitor and manage cash flow to meet liquidity needs.
• Identify and assess financial risks such as market volatility, credit, and operational risks.
• Develop and implement risk management strategies.

Investment and Capital Management

• Evaluate investment opportunities and capital allocation decisions.
• Optimize the organization’s capital structure, managing debt and equity financing.

Tax Planning and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and minimize liabilities.
• Collaborate with tax professionals on tax-efficient strategies.

Financial Controls and Policies

• Establish and maintain internal financial controls.
• Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures.
• Conduct financial analyses to support strategic decisions.

Relationship Management

• Collaborate with external stakeholders like auditors, regulators, investors, and financial institutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with key financial partners.
• Manage and mentor the finance team, providing leadership and direction.

Compliance and Legal Matters

• Ensure compliance with all financial and legal requirements, including regulatory filings and reporting.

Technology and Systems

• Implement and oversee financial management systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

• Experience managing a finance team.
• Knowledge of the Syspro accounting software is essential.

Package & Remuneration
