Qualifications

The Supervisor Engineering Shafts is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the shaft section, including infrastructure, conveyances, stations, levels, loading installations, water tunnels, declines, and change houses. This role involves leading shaft operations in accordance with safety standards and minimizing production delays.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Permanent Blasting Certificate and Onsetter Certificate
• At least 5 years’ experience as a Miner/Timberman and team supervisor in a Shaft environment
• Proven proficiency in rigging and slinging within a shaft environment
• Computer literacy, specifically MS Office
• Medical fitness as determined by a risk-based medical examination, including a Heat Tolerance Screening test

Key Competencies

• Operational safety experience and safety standards awareness
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Organizational skills: planning, leading, controlling
• Proficiency in rigging, slinging, and working at heights
• Willingness to work overtime, irregular hours, and standby duties
• Knowledge of maintenance systems and SAP

Duties and Responsibilities

• Promote Zero Harm culture through safety campaigns
• Ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and codes
• Conduct risk assessments and lockout/tagout activities
• Manage daily maintenance and routine activities
• Schedule and oversee shaft examinations and maintenance planning
• Coordinate shaft operations and manage explosives safely
• Lead rigging and slinging tasks
• Participate in failure investigations and implement improvements
• Engage with OEMs and suppliers for investigations and remediation
• Maintain accurate records, budget, and spares management
