Job summary

Headhunters is seeking a Dyer for our textile dyeing operation in Gqeberha, South Africa. You will prepare and execute dyeing recipes, measure dyes and chemicals, and conduct tests to ensure adherence to customer specifications and dye house standards.

The role requires Grade 12 and a relevant qualification in textile dyeing or natural fibres, with proven dyeing experience and strong attention to detail. You will work under pressure, ensuring safety, housekeeping, and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric is required.
• A diploma, tertiary qualification, or relevant training in textile dyeing, textile technology, or natural fibres will be advantageous.
• Proven experience as a Dyer within a textile manufacturing environment.
• Experience with dyeing natural fibres is highly advantageous.
• Experience with mohair dyeing is a strong advantage.
• Sound understanding of dyeing procedures and recipe preparation.
• Experience conducting physical and chemical testing related to dyeing processes.
• Ability to measure and handle dyes and chemicals accurately.
• Basic computer literacy (Word and Excel).
• SPC knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform dyeing processes according to established procedures and customer specifications.
• Prepare and follow accurate dyeing recipes.
• Measure and use dyes, chemicals to required standards.
• Conduct physical, chemical, and dyeing tests.
• Monitor and record dyeing and testing results.
• Maintain dye house standards and quality.
• Identify and report non-conformances to supervisors.
• Investigate and resolve dyeing/process issues.
• Monitor dyeing processes for consistent quality and customer requirements.
• Coordinate with other departments on test results and outcomes.
• Maintain dye house records and logs.
• Ensure testing follows SOPs and uphold housekeeping standards.
• Handle chemicals safely and store appropriately.
• Support process improvements and maintain dyeing consistency.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Laboratory, and other departments.
• Perform other duties as required by management.

• Perform dyeing processes in accordance with established procedures and customer specifications
• Prepare and follow accurate dyeing recipes
• Ensure the correct dyes, chemicals, and quantities are measured and used according to required standards
• Conduct relevant physical, chemical, and dyeing tests
• Monitor and record dyeing and testing results accurately
• Ensure dye house standards and quality requirements are consistently maintained
• Identify and report non-conformances to the relevant Supervisor or Production Manager
• Investigate and assist in resolving dyeing and process-related problems
• Monitor dyeing processes to ensure consistent quality and customer requirements are achieved
• Liaise with relevant departments regarding test results and dyeing outcomes
• Maintain accurate dye house records, logs, and reports
• Ensure all testing is performed in accordance with standard operating procedures
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the Dye House
• Ensure chemicals are correctly stored, handled, and used in accordance with safety requirements
• Ensure appropriate tools, equipment, and protective clothing are used at all times
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements
• Assist with process improvements and maintaining consistent dyeing standards
• Work effectively with Production, Quality, Laboratory, and other relevant departments
• Perform other reasonable duties as required by management
