Placements24 is seeking a Child Protection Officer for Durban to safeguard children and oversee policy implementation. You will conduct risk assessments, manage cases, provide direct support to children and families, and coordinate with authorities to ensure safe, rights-based services.

The role requires a relevant degree and 3–5 years’ experience in child protection, with travel within KwaZulu-Natal as needed. A compassionate, professional, and confidential approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, Development Studies, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive child protection policies and standard operating procedures.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify children at risk.
• Respond promptly and effectively to child protection concerns, including allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
• Provide direct support to children and their families, including case management, counseling referrals, and access to services.
• Conduct investigations into child protection cases, ensuring confidentiality and sensitivity throughout the process.
• Develop and deliver training sessions on child protection to staff, partners, and community members.
• Collaborate closely with local authorities, social services, and other agencies to ensure coordinated child protection efforts.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of child protection cases and interventions.
• Advocate for the rights and best interests of children within the organization and the wider community.
