The role requires strict adherence to road safety regulations, accurate logbooks, and proactive communication with dispatchers. Overnight stays and weekends may be involved, with a focus on safe, timely deliveries.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience driving 6x4 truck tractors (e.g., Scania, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, or MAN).
• 3+ years with 3-axle 14.5m dry or refrigerated trailers or 6m x 12m tautliner trailers.
• Valid Code 14 driver’s license and valid PDP.
• Clear criminal and driving record; South African citizen with SA ID.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty vehicles to transport freight between hubs and distribution points.
• Ensure timely pickups and deliveries while adhering to road laws and company protocols.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure mechanical readiness.
• Secure cargo to prevent shifting, loss or damage during transit.
• Maintain accurate logs of mileage and hours.
• Follow traffic laws, safety regulations and route schedules.
• Report delays, issues or incidents promptly to dispatch.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and fault troubleshooting as needed.
• Uphold customer satisfaction by following freight handling procedures.

Truck Tractor Experience

• Minimum3 years’ experiencedriving6x4 Truck Tractors(e.g.,Scania, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, or MAN)

Trailer Experience

• Minimum3 years’ experiencewith either:

  • 3-axle, 14.5m dry or refrigerated (perishable) trailers, OR

  • 6m x 12m tautliner trailers

Licensing & Compliance

• ValidCode 14 Driver’s License

• ValidPDP

• Clear criminal and driving record

Citizenship

• South African citizenwith a validSA ID card

• A minimum of3 contactable references, which will befully vetted

Preferred Additional Qualifications

• Mechanical knowledge forbasic truck fault diagnosis

• Prior experiencehandling trailers and securing loads
