Job summary

A logistics company in Pretoria is seeking a driver to manage the collection and dispatching of goods from various suppliers to different departments. The ideal candidate will conduct vehicle checks, manage fuel expenses, and perform minor vehicle repairs. Candidates should possess a Grade 12 National Diploma and have at least one year of driving experience. This role may require working extended hours. Competitive compensation will be provided.

Core Description

Responsible for driving a company vehicle to collect goods from suppliers and dispatching them to the relevant BCX Field Services departments.

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions
  • Receive instruction from the Fleet Specialist on the transportation requirements for the day and collect vehicle keys.
  • Complete the pre and post trip checks to confirm the vehicle is in working order (i.e. check water, oil, tyre pressure and any vehicle damages) and update logbook details indicating the starting time, opening odometer to the next destination, fuel logs and reason for travel.
  • Collect and deliver documentation or goods from and to the appropriate destinations.
  • Utilise the fuel card in accordance with Company Policy to pay for fuel and toll fees.
  • Monitor oil levels, tyre pressure, water levels and other technical requirements of the vehicle. Inform the manager verbally or in writing when the vehicle is due for servicing at the appropriate kilometre measure intervals.
  • Conduct minor repairs on the vehicle as and when required, e.g. change tyres.
  • Report on any incidents or accidents in accordance with Company Policy and produce an accident report for submission to management.
