Job summary

Macsteel Service Centres SA (Pty) Ltd in Mpumalanga seeks a detail-oriented draftsman to produce accurate mechanical and electrical drawings from hand-drawn sketches and specifications. You will use Sigma Nest, CAD and SolidWorks to design layouts, calculate material usage and prepare quotations; work independently with strong communication to liaise with production, purchasing and sales.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / matric with NQF Level 6 Diploma or Advanced certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Detailing / multidisciplinary Drawing Office Practice essential.
• Knowledge of Sigma Nest, CAD and SolidWorks.
• Ability to work independently with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Create designs and layouts as required.
• Revise and amend drawings in the system.
• Consider optimal material use while conforming to standards.
• Prepare drawings for production and manufacture and liaise with purchasing.
• Communicate product requirements to purchasing department and provide updates to management.

Produce and prepare accurate and precise drawings from hand drawn sketches and specifications to plan / nest material for optimal use and ensure all drawings and designs meet set specifications and standards.

Requirements

• Grade 12 / matric.
• NQF Level 6 Diploma / Advanced certificate in Mechanical /Electrical Engineering.
• Detailing / multi- disciplinary Drawing Office Practice essential.
• Knowledge of Sigma Nest.
• Basic CAD and solid works.
• Knowledge of the SAP system would also be an added advantage.
• Ability to work without direct supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Reading and interpretation of mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Create designs and layouts as required.
• Revise and amend existing drawings on the system when required.
• Consider the optimal use of material when designing to conform to standards.
• Make engineering drawings for production and manufacture.
• Get quotations for parts to be manufactured or reworked.
• Accurately calculate all relevant sales orders and provide quotations.
• Communicate product requirements to purchasing department.
• Communicate new leads to external sales representatives and sales management.
• Liaise with production and distribution to ensure on time delivery.
• liaise with procurement buyouts and local purchases.
• Ensure customer is kept well informed on order status and implement corrective action when required
• Meet and exceed sales target.
• Meet and exceed gross profit target
• Follow up on quotes and orders
• Answer phones in a friendly and professional manner.
