Responsible for the safe transportation of staff and equipment to various geographical locations for the purpose of mobile donating sessions. The post also involves performing and monitoring venepunctures to obtain donations and samples in accordance with nationally approved procedures.

Applicants should note that driving an HGV is an only part of the role; the majority of weekly hours is made up by performing donor carer duties (assisting donors and performing collection duties).

We are looking for a donor carer driver to join our existing team of staff who provide a high standard of care to our donors. You should be friendly, enjoy meeting people and be willing to work as part of a team. In addition to providing a high standard of care to our donors you would be expected to transport staff and equipment to sessions. Although based within the Inverness Collection Team you must have a sound knowledge of the geography of the region as extensive travel throughout the region is required.

You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours. Hours include Mon‑Sun and regular late evenings.

A ‘C’ licence (for a goods vehicle in excess of 7.5 tonnes) with current and valid CPC is required.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

The location is Inverness & North Blood Donor Centre, Raigmore Hospital.

The work pattern is Monday‑Sunday, 28 hours per week.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
