Job Description

Position: Distribution Pharmacist

Location: Roodepoort Lea Glen branch, reporting to the QA Managing Pharmacist

Contract: Permanent

EE position: Yes

Job Purpose

To ensure compliance with the Medicines and Related Substances Act, Act 101 of 1965 (and amendments) and the Pharmacy Act, Act 53 of 1974 (and amendments) for both UPD Wholesale and UPD Distribution.

Key Performance Areas
  • Ensure compliance with quality & regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure correct handling and storage of products.
  • Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) by preparing and updating SOPs, conducting internal and external audits, and monitoring staff training.
  • Manage product returns, recalls, destruction processes, and reporting of product complaints/adverse events.
  • Manage CAPAs, deviations, change controls, calibration, and maintenance of critical equipment.
  • Ensure product release and sampling are conducted within SLA.
  • Ensure favorable audit reports from distribution principals and formulate replies to audit reports.
  • Manage Schedule 5 and 6 products.
  • Ensure the validation plan is implemented and maintained.
  • Provide after-hours emergency service availability.
  • Maintain continuous pharmacist supervision of premises during operating hours.
  • Responsible for all communication with MCC and SAPC.
