Job Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Goodwood store seeks a Dispensary Support to join the team. The role involves completing the learner basic pharmacist assistant course and supporting pharmacy operations as a Fixed Term employee until registration with the SAPC as a learner basic assistant. Permanent employment is offered upon qualification.

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 – Matric or a Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science and/or Physical Science and an average of at least 50%.
Job Specification
  • Completed a proficiency test approving the applicant to register with Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant.
  • As a pharmacist's assistant registered under the learner basic assistant category, perform the following services under direct supervision of a pharmacist: sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances; assist with compounding, manipulation or preparation of non‑sterile medicines or scheduled substances according to approved formulas and SOPs; assist with unpacking, merchandising of stock and cleaning of dispensary and OTC shelves; perform other duties directed by the Dispensary Manager; accurately interpret prescriptions and act responsibly in accordance with South African Pharmaceutical Council regulations; ensure accurate picking/packing/labeling and checking of medication; assist with stock control of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines; follow up with patients regarding prescription tracking and appointments; assist with call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls; provide health promotion information; assist with scheme authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS and oncology medication; report low or out of stock levels and stock errors; receive dispensary stock according to company SOP.

Advantageous
  • Retail FMCG, Dis‑Chem front shop experience and a good performance record.
  • Drug and family planning and complementary medicine knowledge.
  • Experience with Unisolv, SAP and E‑Scripting systems.
