Qualifications

  • 1–3 years' experience in a dispatch or logistics role, preferably in meat or food retail.
  • Knowledge of cold storage and HACCP / food safety principles.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in refrigerated environments.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the daily dispatch of meat products to retail outlets or customers.
  • Verify orders against invoices or dispatch lists to ensure accuracy.
  • Check product quality, packaging and labeling before dispatch.
  • Maintain cold-chain integrity during storage and transport.
  • Record dispatch information accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with production, sales and logistics teams.
  • Manage stock rotation (FIFO).
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and food hygiene regulations.
  • Assist with loading and off-loading vehicles when required.

We are seeking a Dispatch Operator to join our team in a Meat Retail Industry–warehouse environment. The role plays a vital part in ensuring the efficient and accurate distribution of meat products from the butchery or retail warehouse to stores or customers.

This position requires attention to detail, knowledge of food safety standards, and the ability to work in a cold storage environment while maintaining high standards of quality and hygiene.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the daily dispatch of meat products to retail outlets or customers
  • Verify orders against invoices or dispatch lists to ensure accuracy
  • Check product quality, packaging and labeling before dispatch
  • Maintain cold‑chain integrity during storage and transport
  • Operate weighing scales, scanners and dispatch tracking systems
  • Record dispatch information accurately (delivery notes, batch numbers, etc.)
  • Communicate effectively with production, sales and logistics teams
  • Manage stock rotation (FIFO – First In, First Out)
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and food hygiene regulations
  • Assist with loading and off‑loading vehicles when required
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Grade 12 / Matric (minimum)
  • At least 1–3 years' experience in a dispatch or logistics role (preferably in meat or food retail)
  • Knowledge of cold storage and HACCP / food safety principles
  • Forklift license (advantageous)
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in refrigerated environments
