Overview

Director of Music for His Majesty's Chapel Royal, St James's Palace (Part Time, 0.6 FTE). Salary: Pro rata £45,000 per annum (actual salary £27,000 per annum). City of London School is seeking an outstanding Director of Music for His Majesty's Chapel Royal.

Responsibilities

The Director will be responsible for the training, performance, and welfare of the Chapel Royal Choir, St James's Palace.

The successful candidate will be supported by a sub‑organist and a part‑time choir administrator, and will prepare and deliver music for Sunday Service at Chapel Royal, St James's Palace, and the services on the following days: Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Ascension Day, Remembrance Sunday, Christmas Day, Carol Services. There may be additional performances on an ad‑hoc basis depending on the ceremonial requirements of the Royal Household.

The Director will undertake choir administration, including producing rehearsal and performance schedules, preparing music notes, orders of service, and other schedules in support of special services, handling correspondence with parents of choristers, and managing the music libraries at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace and City of London School.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have proven experience as a Choral Director working with children in a choir environment and proven ability to forge effective working relationships with parents, colleagues (at City of London School and St James's Palace) and external agencies when necessary.
