Job summary

A leading media agency in Johannesburg is looking for a Planning Specialist to assist in developing and executing comprehensive digital media strategies. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of planning experience, preferably at a media agency, and possess strong analytical and communication skills. You will manage budgets, analyze performance data, and collaborate with teams to optimize campaign performance. This role is critical for seamless execution within a fast-paced environment.

Job description
Planning
  • Assist in planning and executing comprehensive digital media strategies across various channels to meet client objectives.
  • Forecast and implement ad serving and brand safety to ensure effective campaign performance and protecting brand reputation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., creative, analytics, client service) to ensure seamless campaign execution and alignment.
Compliance & Performance Analysis
  • Analyze performance data, track campaign metrics, and offer data-driven recommendations for continuous optimization.
  • Continuously monitor campaign performance against KPIs, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimization strategies to maximize ROI.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive campaign performance reports and use historical data and competitive research to identify insights and optimizations.
Budget & Implementation Management
  • Monitor and manage budgets, ensuring proper allocation and tracking with media vendors.
  • Collaborate with the buying team to guarantee zero-error execution and handle budget adjustments as needed.
  • Oversee invoicing and reconciliation to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation, invoicing/billing, and mapping data to our internal media campaign management platform.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience in a planning role.
  • Experience working at a Media Agency preferable.
  • Knowledge along with a passion for digital.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in developing and implementing analysis and reporting strategies
  • Project management; ability to manage multiple projects across critical yet often fluctuating deadlines
  • Experience with new / emerging media, a plus
  • Result-oriented with strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape.
  • Understands business principles and good practice.
