Job summary

Placements24 is offering an Apprentice Diesel Mechanic position in Vereeniging. The role provides hands-on experience in maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of heavy-duty diesel engines, under the guidance of experienced mechanics.

Candidates should have Grade 12 or equivalent, a strong math/mechanics aptitude, and a commitment to completing the apprenticeship and obtaining trade certification. This is a full-time apprenticeship with a focus on safety and skill development in a busy workshop

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification with strong aptitude for mathematics and mechanics.
• Genuine interest in diesel engines and vehicle maintenance.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions accurately.
• Physical fitness and willingness to work in a workshop environment.
• Commitment to completing the apprenticeship program and obtaining trade certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified mechanics in performing routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
• Learn to diagnose faults using specialized diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Participate in the repair and replacement of engine components, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical parts.
• Read and interpret service manuals and technical documentation.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all work performed.
• Ensure a safe and clean workshop environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
