Job description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Middelburg, Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. Duties may include performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and conducting inspections to ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition.

Responsibilities :

Diagnose and repair diesel engines, as well as mechanical and electrical systems on vehicles and equipment

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks

Troubleshoot and identify mechanical issues, and develop repair plans

Conduct inspections to ensure vehicles meet safety standards and regulations

Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed

Follow manufacturer guidelines for repairs and maintenance procedures

Test driving vehicles to ensure proper functioning after repairs

Requirements :

• Grade 12 or similar qualification
• Trade Test Certificate as a Diesel Mechanic
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in diesel mechanics, preferably within the mining or heavy machinery sector
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues
• Proficient in using tools and diagnostic equipment
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
• CAT machines experience with KRESS & TML attachments is a plus.
• Advanced Hydraulic and Auto Electrical experience required.
• Workshop and Field Work : Preventative, breakdown, and planned maintenance.
• Shift Work and Standby Duty may be required.
• Overtime as needed.
• Forklift and Overhead Crane Licences are a plus.
