Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking experienced Diesel Mechanics for permanent positions in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal. Job description
Diesel Mechanic positions available in Ladysmith, Kwazulu Natal.

Opportunities for experienced DIESEL MECHANICS are available for permanent employment based in Ladysmith.

We are looking for a physically fit candidates with good attention to detail for the position of Diesel Mechanic.

Candidates will need to be highly organized and communicate effectively.

These hybrid positions may require travel to other company locations, workshops and depots etc.

Salary: R30 000 – R45 000 per month.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performing preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, diesel powered fridge units and generators by conducting inspections to identify damages or worn components
  • Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles
  • Checking vehicle lighting, charging and starting systems
  • Test driving vehicles to gauge performance and fuel consumption
  • Running diagnostic tests on all vehicle systems, steering system, suspension system (pneumatic and mechanical) braking system (Pneumatic, hydro-pneumatic and hydraulic brakes)
  • Maintaining a parts inventory
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the workshop (housekeeping)
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
  • Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist
  • Attending to breakdowns

Requirements:

  • Completed Trade Test (mer SETA/Olifantsfontein/QCTO)
  • 5 (+) years relevant experience in the trade
  • N6 (RPL may be considered)
  • Valid driver’s license – Code 14 with PDP
