A leading specialist in heavy‑duty automatic transmissions with over 30 years of industry expertise is seeking a Qualified Diesel Mechanic / Technician with Red Seal to join our team.

Location: Cape Town, South Africa

Minimum Requirements

• Trade‑tested Diesel Mechanic (Merseta Red Seal qualification required)
• 3-5 years relevant experience in diesel mechanics and heavy‑duty vehicles
• Proficient communication skills (read, write, speak) in Afrikaans and English
• Valid driver’s license (Code) – advantageous
• Own reliable transport
• Good health and physically fit for the role
• Computer literacy (basic / intermediate level) with ability to operate diagnostic equipment

Working Conditions

• Working hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00
• Standby availability required (24/7) on rotation for call‑outs and breakdown assistance
• Overtime may be required on short notice

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine vehicle services
• Work collaboratively and assist fellow employees in a team environment
• Remove, strip, and replace transmissions on heavy‑duty vehicles
• Conduct fault finding and diagnostics (mechanical and electrical)
• Perform dyno testing and operate diagnostic equipment
• Drive and test vehicles after work has been completed (if in possession of a valid Code driver’s license)
• Compile detailed job card reports
• Assist with collection and delivery of parts from customers and suppliers

Remuneration

Salary is market‑related and dependent on qualifications, skills, and experience.
