A reputable engineering company based in Cape Town is seeking a Diesel Generator Technician with a trade qualification in Electrical or Millwright. Job Purpose

Diesel Generator Technician / Electrician. Established Electrical / Mechanical Engineering company based in Gordons Bay.

Salary

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience.

Requirements
  • Must have a Trade qualification (Electrical / Millwright) (N3-N6)
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in maintaining and repairing industrial generators.
  • Fault finding and repairs on industrial generators of all sizes, makes and models.
  • Knowledgeable with Deep Sea and ATS Switch Controllers.
  • Strong Electrical background with the ability to do Electrical Diagnostics and troubleshooting on diesel engines.
  • Physically fit to perform daily tasks (standing for long hours, reaching, bending, lifting).
  • Safety orientated.
  • Excellent skills in managing workload and time.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Must have a Clear Criminal Record (Willing to do a police clearance).
  • Must be willing to travel, as work is conducted across various sites within the Western Cape, with potential expansion to other areas.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performing routine maintenance checks and services on generators, such as oil changes and filter replacements.
  • Installing new generators or replacing parts in existing generators to keep them functioning properly.
  • Monitoring gauges and meters to ensure that the generator is operating efficiently.
  • Maintaining electrical systems and components, such as replacing fuses or fixing wiring problems.
  • Operating and maintaining equipment used to provide electricity to customers during power outages or emergencies.
  • Responding to problems with the generator or other electrical equipment as needed.
  • Operating and monitoring computerized controls for generators to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Troubleshooting problems with electrical or mechanical equipment to locate the source of the issue.
  • Monitoring fuel consumption and ordering additional fuel as needed.
Work Hours

07:30 am – 05:00 pm.
